Terms & Conditions
Welcome to ASLTyping.com.
We are glad you are here.
ASLTyping is being built as a place where people can learn, practice, explore, create, and discover resources related to American Sign Language (ASL). We provide educational content, free digital tools, games, visual resources, downloads, and other features designed to make learning and creating easier and more enjoyable.
These Terms of Use / Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) explain the rules that apply when you access or use ASLTyping.com and the tools, content, resources, accounts, downloads, and other services available through it.
Throughout these Terms, “ASLTyping,” “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to ASLTyping and the team operating the website. “You” and “your” refer to the person accessing or using the website.
We have tried to make these Terms understandable rather than unnecessarily complicated.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using ASLTyping.com, you agree to follow these Terms and any additional rules or notices that apply to a particular feature, tool, resource, or service.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the parts of ASLTyping that require your acceptance of them.
Some features may have additional terms or instructions. Where specific terms are provided for a particular tool, download, promotion, account feature, or service, those specific terms may also apply.
2. What ASLTyping Provides
ASLTyping provides and is continuing to develop resources that may include:
- ASL-related educational articles and guides;
- an ASL Picture Dictionary;
- fingerspelling tools;
- ASL-related image or content generators;
- practice tools;
- educational games and interactive activities;
- worksheets, workbooks, and downloadable resources;
- account-based features;
- educational and informational resources;
- creative tools;
- newsletters and communications; and
- other features that may be introduced over time.
ASLTyping is a growing platform.
Not every feature described in our future plans is necessarily available today. Features may be introduced, modified, improved, replaced, limited, or discontinued as the website develops.
3. Educational and Informational Purpose
Much of the content on ASLTyping is provided for general educational, informational, and creative purposes.
ASLTyping is not presented as a substitute for qualified ASL instruction, professional interpreting services, accessibility services, legal advice, medical advice, or other professional services.
Our founder does not claim to be an ASL interpreter, linguist, or representative of the Deaf community.
We work to make our resources useful and aim to improve them over time, but users should use appropriate judgment and consult qualified professionals or authoritative resources when accuracy is particularly important.
Please see our Disclaimer for additional information.
4. Using ASLTyping Responsibly
You are welcome to use ASLTyping for lawful and appropriate purposes.
We ask that you use the website in a way that respects other users, our team, our systems, intellectual property rights, and applicable laws.
You may not use ASLTyping to:
- break applicable laws or regulations;
- harm, threaten, harass, impersonate, or deceive another person;
- distribute malware, malicious code, or harmful files;
- attempt unauthorized access to accounts, servers, databases, or restricted areas;
- interfere with the normal operation or security of the website;
- attempt to bypass access controls, usage limits, security measures, or account requirements;
- use automated systems in a way that places unreasonable demands on our infrastructure;
- scrape or systematically extract protected content without permission;
- copy substantial portions of our databases or collections;
- use our services for fraud, spam, phishing, or other abusive activities;
- misrepresent an affiliation with ASLTyping;
- use ASLTyping’s name or branding in a way that falsely suggests our endorsement; or
- encourage others to engage in prohibited activity.
Please use the platform in the spirit in which it was created: learning, creativity, exploration, and constructive use.
5. Free Tools
ASLTyping provides various free tools designed to support learning, practice, and creativity.
Individual tools may have different functions and different usage conditions.
A tool being free to use does not automatically mean that every underlying image, font, database entry, design element, code component, or other asset used by that tool is released into the public domain or licensed for unrestricted reuse.
You may use our tools through the normal functionality provided on ASLTyping, subject to these Terms and any tool-specific conditions.
You may not, without permission:
- copy or clone a tool itself;
- reproduce substantial portions of a tool’s source code;
- bypass technical restrictions;
- extract protected asset libraries;
- systematically download underlying resources;
- recreate a protected database using automated extraction;
- remove copyright or ownership notices; or
- falsely present an ASLTyping tool as your own service.
We want people to enjoy our free tools.
We also need to protect the work required to build and maintain them.
6. Content You Create With Our Tools
Some ASLTyping tools allow users to enter words, names, phrases, or other information and generate visual or downloadable output.
Where a particular tool expressly allows downloading or reusing its generated output, you may use that output according to the permissions and restrictions applicable to that tool.
Depending on the tool, permitted uses may include:
- personal learning;
- educational activities;
- classroom materials;
- personal creative projects;
- social media content;
- website content;
- digital creative work; and
- certain lawful commercial or creative uses where expressly permitted.
However, permission to use a generated output does not necessarily give you ownership or reuse rights over every underlying asset, font, image, database entry, software component, or third-party element involved in producing it.
You are also responsible for ensuring that the content you enter into a tool and your intended use of the resulting output do not violate another person’s rights or applicable law.
If a particular tool provides separate usage or licensing instructions, those instructions should be read together with these Terms.
7. Commercial Use of Tool Outputs
We like the idea that creativity can lead to opportunity.
Where a specific ASLTyping tool permits it, users may be allowed to use generated materials for lawful commercial or creative activities—for example, digital content, social media projects, website materials, designs, or other permitted projects.
However:
Commercial use is not automatically permitted for every resource on ASLTyping.
The permitted use depends on the specific tool, output, asset, and any applicable license or notice.
In particular, you may not assume that content from our ASL Picture Dictionary or other protected ASLTyping resources can be copied into commercial products simply because those resources can be viewed for free.
When in doubt, please contact us before using protected ASLTyping content commercially.
8. ASL Picture Dictionary — Important Copyright Rules
Our ASL Picture Dictionary requires special attention.
The dictionary may contain original organization, information, images, visual materials, written content, design elements, and other protected materials.
Unless we expressly state otherwise, you may use the Picture Dictionary through ASLTyping for ordinary personal learning and reference.
However, you may not, without appropriate permission:
- copy its images for another website;
- download and republish its image collection;
- reproduce substantial portions of the dictionary;
- scrape its entries;
- build another dictionary using our protected materials;
- redistribute its protected images or content;
- package its content into another app, website, dataset, product, or service;
- sell or sublicense its protected content;
- remove ownership or copyright information; or
- present our original dictionary materials as your own.
Linking people to the relevant ASLTyping page is generally preferable to copying our protected material.
The fact that the Picture Dictionary is accessible online does not place its protected content in the public domain.
Please see our Copyright / DMCA Policy for additional details.
9. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, ASLTyping and/or its applicable licensors retain rights in original materials associated with the website, which may include:
- original written content;
- graphics;
- illustrations;
- photographs;
- images;
- website design elements;
- logos and branding;
- tool interfaces;
- original code;
- databases and compilations;
- downloadable materials;
- games;
- original educational materials; and
- other original works.
Third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be governed by separate licenses.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of ASLTyping’s intellectual property to you.
10. Fair and Reasonable Sharing
We appreciate people sharing ASLTyping.
You are generally welcome to share a normal link to one of our publicly available pages, articles, or tools.
You may also refer to ASLTyping by name when discussing or recommending the website, provided you do not falsely claim to represent us or imply an endorsement that does not exist.
However, sharing a link is different from copying and republishing our protected content.
If you would like to reproduce a substantial part of an original ASLTyping resource, image collection, educational material, or other protected work, please ask us first.
11. User Accounts
Some ASLTyping features may require or allow you to create an account.
When creating or using an account, you agree to:
- provide information that is reasonably accurate;
- keep your login credentials secure;
- avoid sharing your password with unauthorized people;
- use your account lawfully;
- avoid impersonating another person; and
- notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account when reasonably necessary—for example, in cases of abuse, security threats, fraud, repeated violations of these Terms, or attempts to harm ASLTyping or its users.
Where practical and appropriate, we may try to resolve ordinary issues before taking stronger action.
12. Account and Usage Limits
Certain free features may have reasonable usage limits.
For example, ASLTyping may use account prompts, daily limits, rate limits, technical restrictions, or similar measures to protect website performance, prevent automated abuse, and keep free services reasonably available to genuine users.
You may not intentionally circumvent these restrictions through automated systems, multiple deceptive accounts, technical manipulation, or similar methods.
We may adjust usage limits as our services and infrastructure change.
13. Information You Submit
If you submit information through an account, contact form, feedback form, or other feature, you remain responsible for what you submit.
Please do not submit:
- unlawful content;
- malicious files;
- content that infringes another person’s copyright or other rights;
- fraudulent information;
- abusive or threatening material;
- spam;
- another person’s private information without appropriate authorization; or
- content you do not have the right to provide.
Submitting feedback or suggestions does not require us to implement them.
However, you agree that we may review and use general feedback, suggestions, and ideas to improve ASLTyping without owing compensation, unless we have separately agreed otherwise in writing.
14. Community and Future Interactive Features
ASLTyping may introduce additional interactive or community-oriented features in the future.
If we introduce features such as public profiles, listings, submissions, job postings, service listings, comments, community contributions, or similar functions, additional rules may apply.
We may moderate, limit, remove, or refuse content where reasonably necessary to protect users, maintain quality, enforce applicable rules, or comply with law.
The existence of a user submission, listing, profile, or third-party contribution on ASLTyping does not necessarily mean that our team endorses or verifies it.
15. Downloads
ASLTyping may offer downloadable worksheets, books, workbooks, images, educational materials, or other files.
The availability of a download does not automatically grant unlimited rights to reproduce, redistribute, resell, modify, or commercially exploit it.
Please follow any license, copyright notice, usage instructions, or restrictions accompanying the specific download.
If no special permission is stated, do not assume that unrestricted redistribution or resale is permitted.
16. Games and Interactive Activities
Our games and interactive activities are primarily intended to make learning and practice more engaging.
They should not be treated as formal assessments, professional certifications, or definitive measurements of a person’s ASL proficiency unless we expressly state otherwise.
Scores, rankings, achievements, or similar features are primarily part of the learning or entertainment experience.
We may modify game rules, scoring systems, questions, content, or features as we improve the platform.
17. Accuracy and Corrections
We make a genuine effort to create useful resources.
But we are human.
Content can contain mistakes, become outdated, or need clarification.
ASLTyping does not promise that every page, tool, translation, dictionary entry, game, generated output, or educational resource will always be completely accurate, complete, current, or suitable for every purpose.
If you notice something that appears incorrect, we welcome constructive feedback.
We may correct, update, revise, or remove content when appropriate.
18. No Professional Relationship
Using ASLTyping does not create a teacher-student, interpreter-client, attorney-client, medical professional-patient, employment, partnership, fiduciary, or other professional relationship between you and ASLTyping unless a separate written agreement expressly creates such a relationship.
Our general educational content and free tools are provided as resources, not individualized professional services.
19. Third-Party Links and Resources
ASLTyping may link to third-party websites, educational resources, organizations, books, products, services, social platforms, or other external resources.
We may link to something because we believe it could be useful.
That does not necessarily mean we control, operate, guarantee, or endorse everything on the external website.
Third-party websites have their own terms, privacy policies, content, pricing, security practices, and business practices.
You should review them before using an external service or making a purchase.
20. Affiliate Links
ASLTyping may use affiliate links now or in the future.
This means that if you follow certain links and make a qualifying purchase or take another qualifying action, ASLTyping may receive a commission or other compensation.
Where appropriate, we will disclose affiliate relationships.
The existence of an affiliate relationship should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a product or service will be appropriate for every person.
You are responsible for evaluating whether a third-party product or service is suitable for you.
Please see our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.
21. Advertising
ASLTyping may display advertisements, including advertisements provided by third-party advertising networks such as Google AdSense.
Advertisements help support the costs associated with maintaining and developing free tools, resources, and content.
However, unless explicitly stated otherwise:
An advertisement appearing on ASLTyping does not mean that ASLTyping personally endorses, guarantees, or has independently verified the advertised product, service, or claim.
Advertisers and advertising platforms are responsible for their own content, offers, products, services, and practices.
Please see our Advertising Policy for more information.
22. Sponsors and Partnerships
From time to time, ASLTyping may work with sponsors, partners, collaborators, organizations, creators, or other third parties.
Where a relationship materially affects content or involves compensation, we aim to provide an appropriate disclosure.
A partnership or sponsorship does not give a third party unrestricted control over our entire website or automatically make every statement from that party an ASLTyping statement.
We want commercial relationships to be transparent.
23. Privacy
Your use of ASLTyping is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, processed, and protected when you interact with the website.
Our Cookie Policy provides additional information about cookies and similar technologies.
Please review those policies together with these Terms.
24. Website Availability
We work to keep ASLTyping available and functioning properly, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access.
The website or particular features may occasionally be unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- updates;
- hosting issues;
- technical failures;
- security incidents;
- internet problems;
- third-party service interruptions;
- upgrades; or
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may also modify or discontinue features when necessary.
Where practical, we will try to minimize unnecessary disruption.
25. Changes to Tools and Services
Technology changes quickly, and ASLTyping is still developing.
We may add, modify, redesign, limit, replace, suspend, or discontinue a tool, game, resource, feature, or service.
A feature that is free today is not necessarily guaranteed to remain unchanged or available forever.
If we introduce paid services in the future, additional terms may apply before a user purchases or uses those services.
26. Security
You may not attempt to test, probe, bypass, damage, overload, or compromise ASLTyping’s systems without authorization.
This includes attempts to:
- obtain unauthorized access;
- discover credentials;
- exploit vulnerabilities;
- inject malicious code;
- disrupt services;
- bypass rate limits;
- defeat authentication;
- access private administrative areas; or
- interfere with another user’s account.
If you believe you have discovered a genuine security problem, please report it responsibly rather than exploiting it.
27. Automated Access, Scraping and AI/Data Collection
We want human visitors and legitimate search engines to be able to discover ASLTyping.
However, unless we provide permission or an authorized interface, you may not use bots, crawlers, scrapers, automated scripts, bulk-download systems, or similar technologies to systematically extract protected ASLTyping content or substantially reproduce our collections.
In particular, you may not systematically collect our protected Picture Dictionary images, original educational materials, databases, or other copyrighted content to build or enrich another database, website, application, commercial service, machine-learning dataset, or similar product without appropriate authorization.
Normal indexing by legitimate search engines in accordance with our technical settings is different from unauthorized extraction or republication.
28. Copyright Concerns
We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same.
If you believe content appearing on ASLTyping infringes copyright that you own or are authorized to represent, please follow the procedure described in our Copyright / DMCA Policy.
We will review properly submitted notices in accordance with our applicable procedures and legal obligations.
29. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ASLTyping and its services are provided on an “as available” basis.
We work to provide a useful and reliable experience, but we do not guarantee that:
- every piece of content will be error-free;
- every tool will always produce the result you expect;
- every feature will always be available;
- every third-party link will remain active or safe;
- the website will be uninterrupted; or
- every resource will be suitable for every user’s individual circumstances.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
30. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ASLTyping and the people involved in operating it will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar losses arising solely from your use of or inability to use the website, tools, resources, or third-party links.
You remain responsible for how you use information, downloads, generated outputs, and external services.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
31. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, if your unlawful use of ASLTyping, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights causes a third-party claim against ASLTyping, you may be responsible for resulting reasonable losses, liabilities, or costs.
This provision does not apply where prohibited by applicable law.
32. Suspension or Termination
We hope we rarely need to use this section.
However, we may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to some or all features when reasonably necessary to:
- protect ASLTyping or its users;
- respond to security threats;
- prevent fraud or abuse;
- address serious or repeated violations of these Terms;
- comply with legal requirements; or
- protect our intellectual property or systems.
Where appropriate and reasonably practical, we may provide notice or an opportunity to resolve an issue.
33. Changes to These Terms
ASLTyping will continue to evolve.
We may update these Terms to reflect:
- new tools or features;
- changes to our services;
- changes to account functionality;
- advertising or affiliate programs;
- legal or regulatory developments;
- security requirements; or
- changes to how the platform operates.
When we update these Terms, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
For material changes, additional notice may be provided where appropriate or legally required.
Your continued use of the website after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
34. If Part of These Terms Is Invalid
If a provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions should continue to apply to the extent legally possible.
The affected provision may be interpreted or limited to the extent necessary to make it enforceable where applicable.
35. No Waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not necessarily mean we have permanently waived our right to enforce it later.
36. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with policies and additional terms expressly incorporated into them, form the general agreement governing your use of ASLTyping.
Certain services, collaborations, purchases, promotions, or other arrangements may be governed by additional written terms.
37. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The governing law and appropriate jurisdiction for these Terms may depend on the legal entity or individual operating ASLTyping and applicable law.
We do not want to publish an inaccurate jurisdiction merely to make this section look complete.
Once ASLTyping’s formal operating entity and governing jurisdiction are confirmed, this section should be updated with the appropriate legal details.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive consumers of mandatory protections that apply to them under applicable law.
38. Contact Us
If you have a question about these Terms, a copyright concern, a permissions request, a security concern, or another legitimate issue regarding ASLTyping, please contact our team through the Contact page on ASLTyping.com.
When contacting us about a specific page, tool, or resource, including the relevant page URL or tool name can help us understand your request more quickly.
We will do our best to review legitimate inquiries carefully.

A Personal Note from Our Founder
If you have reached the end of these Terms, thank you.
Terms and Conditions are naturally more formal than most of the pages on ASLTyping, but behind these rules is a very simple intention.
We want people to use what we build, enjoy it, learn from it, and create with it—while also respecting the work, people, and resources that make it possible.
When I began ASLTyping, my intention was never to make useful resources difficult to access. Quite the opposite. I wanted technology to make learning and creating easier.
Today, I am fortunate to have a team working with me toward that goal.
The rules on this page are not here to make our visitors uncomfortable. They are here to help us protect the platform, our users, our team’s work, and the resources we continue investing time and effort into creating.
If you are ever unsure whether you can use one of our resources in a particular way, please ask us. We would much rather have a friendly conversation than leave you uncertain.
Thank you for respecting our work.
Thank you for using ASLTyping responsibly.
And thank you for giving our team the opportunity to continue building something we hope will become more useful with time.
As always, please keep me, our team, and ASLTyping in your prayers and good wishes.
May we have the wisdom to make fair decisions, the patience to keep improving, the humility to correct ourselves when needed, and the opportunity to use our skills in ways that genuinely benefit people.
With gratitude and warm wishes,
Founder, ASLTyping
On behalf of the entire ASLTyping team
